Welcome to the Virtual Tour of Honolulu, Oahau

Oahau is the metropolitan island of the Hawaian chain. While there are quiet areas around the north shore, it's main attraction is the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Punchbowl National Cemetary and many other points of interest await you. While staying in Honolulu, forget about a rental car with   its associated traffic and parking hassles. If what you seek is not within walking distance, the public bus service is ideal. The vehicles are clean, comfortable, on-time, inexpensive and cover just about the entire island. It took me two trips to learn this basic survival fact.

Waikiki hotels are expensive but convenient.

oahau8304.jpg (16743 bytes) Inside Diamond Head. It looks more like a volcano crater from this perspective.
oahau8303.jpg (20074 bytes) This old boy had a bad day. The entrance to the marina is narrow and he picked the wrong side of the marker buoy. A sad end for a beautiful boat.
oahau8305.jpg (21832 bytes) A nice view of the northern end of Waikiki.

oahau8307.jpg (23633 bytes) Another aerial view of the city. The crater in the center of the picture is Punchbowl where the National Cemetery is located.

oahau8309.jpg (17615 bytes) Also toward Pearl but from offshore.
oahau8310.jpg (11090 bytes) The water is so clear, the boats appear to be suspended in the air over the coral reefs.
