Your photos of Los Angeles are great. FYI I have a similar old photo by Clements with a copyright date of 1926 that may have been taken on the same day. Los Angeles has its gondola on the ground and is aligned to enter hanger #1 with her nose right at the archway. She has he USN markings afixed. Its a long rectangled photo about 9X40 that hangs on the wall.

Was wondering if you might remember at base fireman at Udorn named Gary Carlisle. He was at Udorn from '64 to'65. I arrived TDY to Air Rescue in Sept 65 and he was just getting ready to leave. Gary and I went to tech school at Greenville Ms in 1962 and I was just wondering where is might be now. Thanks. Tony Desmond

Response to Tony from George:

Sorry, Tony. It's been a long time and that name does not ring a bell. You might try some of the other sites in the "Brotherhood Webring". Take a look at the link on the entry page and good luck. George

Very enjoyable. AGAIN!!! I've seen it before and always enjoy going through it again. I 'suffered' through Don Muang 1967-68, what I call The Campaign Of Petchburi Road. We had it MUCH better than you up-country folks.

Hello, I'm Kathy Breedlove and my husband Greg was a Sgt at Udorn 73/74. I was one of those wives who came over. I was there Jan through Oct of 74. If you remember an American working at the bank, that was me. I spent a few days working at Ramason as well.

Greg and I lived off base (of course) in a compound with interesting security, a Thai national with an m-16??? Some great memories of the Charoen (sp?) hotel and 3 Sisters restaurant.

Still have my passport with all it's extention pages. Oh the joys of being required to post bond and leave the country every 90 days. Loved that boat trip across the Mekong. Of course we can't forget the MARS station. Times have sure changed.

I hope to go back someday....

Thanks for listening Greg and Kathy Breedlove US Mac Thai '73/'74 azkathysews@hotmail.com

I'm a researcher in San Diego trying to track down the Shenandoah's visit to North Island around 1924. She's moored to a mast in the photo I have, I think. I want to prove she is the Shenandoah in the photograph. Your website here is most helpful. Karen Scanlon

If you would like some additional photos of the Los Angeles, Akron, Macon and the Shenandoah. I also have a photo of the crew of the Los Angeles (maybe in 1931) and a photo of the Akron crew. Also have assorted blimp photos including the crew of a K ship. My father, John L. Stone flew on the Los Angeles and I think he also flew a short time on the Akron. My uncle, Herbert G. Rowe, (Monty Rowe) was a Macon surviver. My father flew on the K ships (ZP Squadron 12) based at Naval Air Station Lakehurst starting around 1942. I've seen some of the photos I have at the NLHS museam as well as some web sites. I've not seen some of the photos I have reproduced anywhere. Happy to email them to anyone interested. George: I think I mentioned this before. (age is getting to me) but those hootches were built by Navy Seabee's from may 1962 to aug. 1962. We lived in tents until we got the Marines out of the mud & then we built some for ourselves

Was at the other end of Udorn. I helped close the American portion in 1976. Your T-28's were still there. They were locked up on the old Air America ramp. Every once in awhile one would go up for some touch and goes. They wore Lao insigna. S L Freeman http//:udornguy.tropod.com/index.html

I would say, it may be possible that an M.J. Ford, who once resided, in Lobg Beach, CA., who was an artist, who grew up in New Jersey and who owned galleries in Hawaii, Vermont and New Jersey and who studied under a teacher, named Ted Goerschner, of Mendicito, CA. , may be the M. J. Ford, on the Photo. She was still active, not long ago and has a webpage.

the man's name is Rell Sam Clements,Jr. he took many photographs of airships in and around Lakehurst,NJ. most of his work was done in the 20's from what i can find out. he has also done postcards,of airships of course, which turn up on ebay every so often. some of his work can be seen on the naval airship site also. known for working with mostly panoramic view. not any real site that has all the info on Clements. hope this helps a lil bit.

George I enjoyed your site and pictures of Udorn Air Base. It brought back some good memories. I served there from Apr.68 to Apr.69. I was there on July 26th. I was a security police posted on the main gate. Ssgt.Johnson who was awarded the silver star was a freind of mine. And Ssgt.Spencer and the other brave and courageous guys that was awarded the bronze stars were also buddies.I would like to find them but don't know how. Do you have any suggestions. Those pictures of the barracks sure bring back memories. Thanks. Ralph Young rwyoung48@aol.com

George,

This site really brought back memories. I was stationed at Udorn from December 1964 through December 1965, so many of these pictures compare with some of the ones that I took at the time. My unit was Det 4 of the 619th TCS....the Radar unit, where I was involved in the first "Rolling Thunder" mission. Our call sign at the time was "Candy" and was later changed to Brigham.

Thanks again

Tom Anstey

my name is michael e mundy and I was at udorn 1965-66, 1973 Comm sq. Worked as a radio operator near the flight line. Small radio shack where absolutely nothing went on except monitoring static on 3 KWM-2 transceivers for a whole year. MARS station was in the same small building. Only thing that happened was when a 291, gary hormell, was found tangled up in the barbed wire, just outside my building, unconscious. To this day I don't know what happened to him. He got a cushy job with Wing after the Incident. Man was I ever glad to get out of there. Ended up in Ubon in 1971-1972, and JUSMAG 1972-1974. I NEVER want to go back to Thailand again.
